City Life: View From My Sliver of a Window, Looking West

I have a small slice of a side window that looks out on this view. I live in the Inner Sunset neighborhood. That bunch of trees there is Golden Gate Park. The area on the other side of the trees is The Richmond neighborhood. If you look closely past the trees you can see the grey/white of the Pacific Ocean. The big pink church is St. Anne of the Sunset Catholic Church.

MT, I have been reading regularly, but not commenting until now. This picture is GREAT - how lucky you are to be able to see the ocean from your home! Mountains here are solid, unmoving, and rarely changing, whereas the sea is constantly in motion, colors and light morphing as we gaze... thank you for sharing!

Two other things I wanted to share with you: my kids and I watched "Happy Feet" over the weekend (it is an animated film about penguins, since you may not follow family-themed flicks). Anyway, as the penguins were swimming around and waddling on the ice, I was thinking of you and your volunteer work. The main character never loses all of his baby fuzz for feathers, and I was thinking about your baby penguin post, and wondering how realistic that was.

The other thing is that my boss at work is getting married this summer to a woman he met on e-harmony about 18 months ago. He is smart, funny and a great dad to his three kids from his previous marriage. I have a lot of respect for him professionally, and personally he seems like a fun date. He said he dated several women he met on e-harmony; they were compatible on many levels and just interesting people; he enjoyed the time he spent with each them. Then he met his soon-to-be-wife, and he "lined up" with everything she was looking for. He is head over heels for her, and it is great to see. He is in his mid-forties, and his finacee is 40 something also...

So the whole reason I am writing this is to encourage you to keep doing what you are doing! There are lots of interesting people out there in your very cosmopolitan town - I am glad to know you are meeting more of them!

Thanks so much for this comment. I have not seen "Happy Feet" yet, but my brother got me a Mumbles for my birthday at the build your own bear store. We had a good deal of fun stuffing him and picking out an outfit for him (a tuxedo, of course) so I need to watch Happy Feet.

Thanks for the story about your boss and his e-harmony experiences. It's a very encouraging story. I haven't met anyone yet, but I hope to get at least a coffee date out of it. There are several very interesting men I've been paired with: many of them really love art or are artists, a couple of them are writers, and a few of them just seem to be really nice guys. I'm looking forward to meeting a couple of these guys.

Thanks for your encouragement. It's good to know that you think I'm on the right track!
